New Project could power 600,000 homes.
The Department of the Interior announced this week that it had selected a portion of federal waters in the North Atlantic Ocean as a site for offshore wind energy production. The site off the coast of New York state has the potential of constructing 122 wind turbines, generating about 880 megawatts of renewable energy – enough to power about 600,000 homes.
Secretary Deb Haaland stated, “The Interior Department is committed to confronting climate change, creating thousands of good-paying jobs, and paving the way for the nation’s transition to a cleaner energy future.” She went on to say, “The demand for offshore wind energy has never been greater — we will continue to invest in the infrastructure to develop the offshore wind industry and to help attract the domestic supply chain.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials of the Interior Department as they evaluate sites for renewable energy.
- That Secretary Haaland would seek the Lord’s direction as she heads the Interior Department.
- For the president’s administration to have wisdom as they steward U.S. lands and resources.
